Offer for Schools: Commission an asbestos survey and get a free Display Energy Certificate
As we enter 2010 Wilbourn Associates are offering all schools a FREE Display Energy Certificate (DEC) when commissioned alongside an asbestos survey ; It is a legal requirement that all schools have an asbestos management plan. This should be reviewed and updated at regular intervals usually as a bare minimum on an annual basis. If your school does not have an asbestos management plan and survey Wilbourn Associates can undertake this so that you are compliant with the law.Should the school have a survey that has not been incorporated into a management plan and has not been reviewed on a regular basis we can also provide this service.; For further information please visit our website at http://www.environmental-surveyors.com/asbestos.htm or call on 0114 2435500. Asbestos in schools is a highly contentious issue with many schools throughout the country not, or only partially, complying with the above regulations.A recent BBC report has revealed that ONE IN FIVE of 155 local authorities surveyed by the Health and Safety Executive were rated ;not satisfactory; in terms of managing asbestos in schools (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8385687.stm). This equates to 34 local authorities and does not include authorities in Scotland or Wales. With regards to DECs these have been required for public authority buildings, as well as those buildings where the occupant provides a public service and are frequently visited by members of the general public since 1 October 2008. The regulations currently only apply to buildings greater than 1000m2. However recent reports indicate that this could be extended to include buildings greater than 250m2 by the end of 2010.
