We are recruiting an Energy Efficiency Assessor Based in Sheffield Salary Negotiable depending on experience Wilbourn Associates are one of the leading firms of Chartered Environmental Surveyors in the country. An exciting new role has been created in response to the growing commercial energy advice market. Wilbourn Associates see itself as a centre for excellence in this field and has already started taking instructions. Initially responding to our existing valued clients needs you will hold at least three years relevant current post qualification experience in the commercial property market in either Building or Quantity Surveying and be RICS chartered. You must be willing to undertake further development in order to reach a level 4 qualification in energy assessment and become eligible to join the RICS Energy Assessors Register This position will be within the new energy team. In order to undertake the role you must be able to demonstrate the following skills. Have a good understanding of large dwelling-type construction as used in a typical ‘high street’ property using domestic-style heating and hot water and small packaged comfort cooling. Hold an understanding of larger scale non-dwelling construction such as frame construction, cladding, glazing etc. Demonstrate a good understanding of building services so that you can correctly identify different types of systems such as VAV, dual duct, split systems etc. Be able to survey an existing building to take measurements and ascertain the specification of the building construction and services as well as take measurements from drawings. Be able to calculate u values and thermal capacity from first principles. Hold knowledge and understanding of the requirements of Building Regulations Approved Documents Part L2 A & B and the non domestic heating guide. You will have a professional attitude and strong commercial awareness and be able to communicate effectively with clients as well as develop services and win new work.
